Vintage Hazel Atlas Oval & Ruffled Milk Glass w/ Dogwood Pattern
Vintage Oval & Ruffled Milk Glass w/ Embossed Dogwood Pattern made by Hazel Atlas. 1930-1938. Cutest little trinket or candy dish, is the perfect Spring/Summer decor. It features embossed dogwood flowers in the center and a wonderful ruffled border. This little dish is perfect as a candy dish, catch-all by the door, even your bathroom! It makes a great soap dish, especially for those hard to fit large French soap bars. Unfortunately it is unmarked, however, it’s believed to be made by Hazel Atlas, they issued snack sets in this very same pattern in milk glass. There are similar Dogwood patterns by Fenton, Westmoreland and Federal Glass, but either the petals were different, or the design was debossed (indented), or the leaves were different. Great hostess gift, bridal shower with fancy nuts, or soaps, also for Mother’s Day, beautiful!
In British Columbia, the flower of the dogwood tree (Cornus Nuttalli) became the official floral emblem in 1956.
Some species, such as flowering and Pacific dogwood, have showy flowers. ... Other dogwoods have clusters of small, creamy-white flowers. Dogwood berries can be bright red, white, dark blue, or even a combination of dark blue and white, as with the silky dogwood.
