"Rosella Marie was born to Katherine and Peter G. Toews in St. Anne, Manitoba in 1919. At age four, they moved to Steinbach. Rosella spent her young years in constant motion, running errands, playing and working on the family farm. Everything she did was with her characteristic enthusiasm and cheerfulness. After graduating from high school, she went to Normal School. She then taught primary grades for ten years. On August 11, 1946 she married her long-time schoolmate Vernon Toews in Steinbach. She gave birth to her sons John in Toronto in 1952 and James in Steinbach in 1955. In Wolfville, Nova Scotia she managed a kindergarten for the Psychology and Education Departments of Acadia University. In 1958 the family moved to Seattle and to Walla Walla, Washington in 1960. Rosella joined the Baptist church, serving in all capacities until moving to Abbotsford in 1986. She touched countless lives with many acts of practical kindness. Her fondness for people continued until her death. Rosella was predeceased by her sisters Anna, Elizabeth, Amanda, Lydia and Eva and brother Andrew. She is survived by her husband, her sons and their wives, Lynn and Debi, five grandchildren, a new grandson-in-law, her sister Elma and numerous nieces and nephews.
